NiT (Portugal): Almada will have horror movies in June
16 de November de 2021São Paulo filmmaker, based in Goiânia, will present three short films at Cine Lumière Bougainville, which will debate fundamental issues for society today, such as freedom, repression, choices and psychiatry
Cine Lumière Bougainville will present this Tuesday, November 28th, the exhibition “Rosa Berardo: Chance, Dictatorship and Memories”, with the screening of two unpublished short films: “Alarm Falso” and “Brands of Dictatorship in the Life of um Ator”, directed by Rosa Berardo, one of the most renowned Brazilian filmmakers.
The exhibition will also show a restored version of the film “André Louco”, an adaptation of the work of Bernardo Élis, awarded in Switzerland and which marked the resumption of cinema in Goiás in the early 1990s. “We bring together films that talk about very important aspects for society , which mark the destiny of a people or a person”, says Rosa Berardo. “These aspects sometimes go through the current social and political order; other times, they pass for seconds or minutes that we take to reflect and change our choices or opinions about our destiny”, says the filmmaker.
After being remastered and digitized, “André Louco”, from 1990, with the actor Toni Cotrin in the main role, returns to the screen. With an adapted script and direction by Rosa Berardo, made on 35mm film, it is considered the film that retakes cinema from Goiás. It was also the first film made by a woman in Goiás. The narrative shows the city’s point of view in relation to normality and madness, by telling the story of André, a young man considered crazy by the population.
“Alarme Falso”, 2017, with Gustavo Duque and Bela Carrijo, was written by Carlos Moreli. The film shows how the decisions and choices we make in our lives can irreparably transform our destiny.
In the documentary “Brands of Dictatorship in the Life of an Actor”, also from 2017, Rosa Berardo signs a script, photography direction and general management. The film brings to light a political fact, of profound gravity, which involved the life of Goiás actor Almir de Amorim, victim of the Brazilian military dictatorship.
PhD in Film at the University of Sorbonne, in France, and post-doctorate at the Université du Québec in Montreal, Rosa Berardo has a long history in the audiovisual field, participating as a director and jury in several film festivals in Brazil and abroad.
The event will start at 7 pm, with a press conference, followed by the presentation of the films, a debate on the themes represented in the exhibition’s cinema and a closing cocktail. In addition to the director, actress Bela Carrijo and actors Gustavo Duque and Almir de Amorim will be present.
